My practice serves both adults and children from age six and up. The presenting issues that most of my clients bring to my office are:

  • Trauma
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Adoption
  • Attachment
  • Relationships

My service is tailored to individual needs and readiness. I integrate many models in my practice including Gestalt, Family Systems, EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing) and Somatic Experiencing. Art and Play Therapy are often used in parallel with parent-education when I work with children and their families.

What is Gestalt Therapy ?
Gestalt therapy focuses on the "here and now" experiences. By expanding one's awareness of body and mind, it helps clients observe the process as opposed to the content of their stories. Sometimes therapists may use "empty chair" technique to help clients dialogue, negotiate and make choices.

What is Family Systems Model ?
Treatment focuses on the family dynamics instead of narrrowing toward the "identified patient". It mobilizes the whole family to find new patterns of wellness as opposed to fixing the "symptomatic" member.

What is EMDR ?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Movement) is a technique used to release trauma. It retrieves body sensation and belief system that co-exist in our memories of the trauma. During EMDR, the bilateral movement of the brain is activated through eye movement, body tapping, audio or tactile stimulation. EMDR is proven to be an efficient and effective method in re-processing the distress and anxiety related to trauma and building resource in coping with new challenges.

What is Somatic Experiencing ?
Somatic Experiencing is a mind-body approach to the resolution of trauma. It is based on the observation that animals are able to discharge their energy after being threatened. Clients are helped to attend to their body sensations, allowing the aroused survival energies to be safely discharged and bringing the body back to equilibrium.
